Item # 58:
Bean Sprout Salad
Price: $5.50
Date completed:  Tuesday April 1st, 2003
When we went in, I thought we weren't going to make it. Eleven fifty a.m. it was, and it was still too late. All the tables were packed, and even though we were at the front of the line, I was sure we were in for another three-hour line-waiting odyssey. But no! There's some secret room in the back. About 40F, with all kinds of spooky lights and flowery paintings. Then this guy started saying this place serves great lasagna. Lasagna? What is this, Taco Bell? Anyway, so I'm over halfway through the salads now. Just like that. This one is better than the chicken salad because it A) looks better with the nice orange carrots and B) the bean sprouts are better than the glass noodles. Also I got to eat it with some of Diana's Meat Pie (not a menu item, but an appetizer), and Jer got Smoked Ham, of which I got to eat a few bites. So the meal, in a word, rocked. So why does this get the same rating as chicken salad even though this one is clearly much much better? I'm not sure. Oh, and by the way, props to Chris for letting me use his camera today. Zing.

Oh, and two more things, because I know this blurb will be on the front page when the Chronicle comes out:
  1. The war is illegal and immoral and must be stopped
  2. If you're a single woman living in San Francisco, and are interested in motorcycles, languages, or just a lunch companion, contact me and let's do lunch sometime.
Rating: 8

Moss, I realize you need to be there by about 11:50 to get a table quickly, but at what time does it start to slow down again? One, one-thirty? Have you ever tried coming at the end of the rush?

Also, do you order soup or anything to go along with these salads? Do you drink tea or coke with your lunch? What places to you go to on non-Henry days?

Dear Moss, What about the stuff about cruises and South Beach that we agreed on? Did you forget or something? Kindly, Your concerned friend, Matt

Dear Moss, It's 1:23, and still nothing about cruises and Miami Beach. Is there something going on here that I should know about? Just sign me, Not paranoid -- yet!

Dear Moss, Oops! I didn't mean to send that twice. But my point still stands, if more so: It's now 1:28 and STILL nothing regarding Miami Beach and cruises. Sign me, Your friend -- so far!

You're right. I've been in Maui all week. Nothing like South Beach at all. So here's what I was supposed to say:

Cruises should be more like South Beach. With more models and less old people. There, I said it.
